I take it it was a bloop just a few feet over the pitchers head, not a booming pop up. I would say no as well. It is a judgement call because the ball has to be able to be played "naturally" (my intrepretation, but I cannot remember the wording in the book) to be considered for the infield fly rule. If no player would have been able to make the play, then no, you made the right call.
